Conduct & Performance

Any large community needs rules to ensure that things run smoothly, but we have no more than we must. Our aim is to work with you to help your sons and daughters to grow up and develop their characters and gifts to the full. We want them to think, speak, behave and dress properly, and to respect the feelings and property of others. To learn to behave with courtesy and goodwill is an important part of education. We insist on good student behaviour to and from School and we should be particularly grateful for your co-operation in helping us to maintain high standards of conduct on the School buses.

For your child to achieve his or her full potential, regular attendance is essential. As a School we place a very high importance onmonitoring our students' attendance record. Unauthorised attendance is very low indeed and we are delighted that our overall attendance rate is in excess of 94%. However, we are always seeking to improve on this and we ask for your co-operation in explaining all absences as soon as possible and seeking permission well in advance for any absence from School.

Absence from School due to family holidays taken in term time can be very damaging to your child's educational progress and we ask that you avoid this whenever possible.

Examination results are consistently impressive and significantly above county and national averages. In 2009, 80% of students gained 5 or more A*-C grades in their GCSE examinations. 66% of students gained 5 or more GCSEs at A*-C grades including English and Mathematics, while 84% of students gained Level 2 in Functional English and Mathematics. In 2009 our A Level pass rate was 99.6% with 78.9% of students gaining Grade C or above.

Our most recent OfSTED inspection in November 2007 gave the school an overall ‘Outstanding’ judgement.
