Record Breaking GCSE Results at Chipping Campden School – Second Year in a Row
Chipping Campden School students celebrated the second year of record breaking GCSE results this year when 82% of students gained 5 or more A*-C grades in their GCSEs.
Although in such an outstanding year many students have achieved superb results, it is worth mentioning in particular Ennio Keyte of Chipping Campden and Michael Alves Silva of Moreton in Marsh who achieved the highest points scores of all students, while Emma Channing-Pearce of Lower Quinton and Alice Preston-Jones of Blockley both gained 9 A* and 2 A grades in their suite of 11 GCSEs each.
Headteacher, Annette France commented, “We were delighted last year to reach 80% 5 A*-C GCSEs, but this year group and their teachers have worked especially hard together to exceed all previous school achievement records. Our students can be justifiably proud of these outstanding results.”
Another important indicator of raised achievement is the fact that the 5 A*-C including English and Mathematics GCSE measure has also increased by three percent to 67% this year.
The school is celebrating Y10 GCSE achievements too. 25 students took GCSE Mathematics this year with 23/25 students gaining A* or A grades. A voluntary weekly evening class in GCSE Astronomy for Y10 students also saw all 14 students gaining A*-C grades. These results promise even better outcomes in 2011.
Information for Parents on Academy status
Parents may already have seen that Chipping Campden School, as an OfSTED outstanding school, has expressed an interest in becoming an Academy.
This is the early stage in Governors' deliberations on this matter, since they are spending time considering carefully the potential implications of this, and so we shall not be applying for this change of status for September 2010.
However, it remains an option for this school and one which we will re-examine next academic year as more information becomes available.
